Position Overview:

As a Patient Accounts Specialist, you will be resolving patient account issues and inquiries.

Essential Functions:

  • Ability to ascertain correct demographic and insurance data and updates.
  • Assists patients and insurance companies to resolve patient account issues and inquiries.
  • Review insurance, EOBs, and patient responsibilities with patients and conducting financial investigations as necessary for any account issues.
  • Responsible for collection and processing of patient correspondence and payments
  • Collect and process all insurance electronic payments for all locations daily.
  • Set up payment plan contracts for collection.
  • Reach out to patients via email/phone for declined payments.
  • Upload all processed documents and send them via email to be posted.
  • Front end A/R holds.
  • Daily expectations for the call center are 40-60 calls per day.
  • Highly productive and able to stay focused in a remote environment.
  • Ability to demonstrate mastery of the above essential functions with passing grades in testing environment.
  • Other tasks and duties as assigned.

Professional experience:

  • Knowledge of revenue cycle processes from front desk registration through insurance adjudication.
  • Experienced with Athena
  • Detailed understanding on how to read and interpret EOB's and denials from all insurance carriers including the financial components such as co-pays, deductibles, co-insurance.
  • Excellent systems experience and acuity whether EMR and Billing/Collection Systems.
  • Ability to coordinate communication with service providers to resolve patient account issues.
  • The candidate must have a minimum of two years of customer service or front desk experience in a medical setting.
  • Demonstrate proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, including Word and Excel
  • Experience level: 3+ years.

Work environment:

  • A standard business environment exists with moderate noise levels.
  • Ability to lift and move approximately thirty (30) pounds on a non-routine basis.
  • Ability to sit for extended periods of time.
  • Extended periods of computer usage
  • Handling – seizing, holding, grasping, and fingering of objects, tools, and controls.
  • Vision – close vision
  • Hearing- ability to receive detailed information through oral and telephonic communication.
